Isabel Sá Nogueira elected president of the Portuguese Society of Genetics
Isabel Sá Nogueira, integrated member of UCIBIO at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT-NOVA), has been elected president of the Portuguese Society of Genetics for a period of three years (2015-2018). The Portuguese Society of Genetics (SPG) was established in 1973 to promote the development and diffusion of genetics in Portugal.

UCIBIO scientists honoured at the exhibition "Women in Science"
On 8th March 2016, International Women's Day, the national agency Ciência Viva honoured 103 scientist women in Portugal in the book Mulheres na Ciência. It is a tribute to the scientists’ women in Portugal, whose contribution has been a key to the progress of national science and technology.

Cecília Roque is one of the 20 portuguese top researchers selected for the Project 20+20 by Expresso
Cecília Roque, head of the Biomolecular Engineering Lab at UCIBIO, has been chosen by the national newspaper Expresso as one of the 20 portuguese top researchers. In the Expresso news Cecília Roque explains her project on artificial noses to detect microorganisms. The scientist developed a set of sensors that can identify microorganisms in a quicker and no-invasive way through odour released.
